Forgetful little people

Since Christmas we've tried to continue walking ... but haven't quite managed to keep up the tempo of the South Coast Track. Hardly surprising when normal everyday stuff like work gets in the way. We did manage a night camping up at Mount Field a few weeks ago. However, we didn't remember the tent - a strange thing to forget you may well think. If you bothered to read the whole of my last entry you'll see that we recently bought an excellent lightweight tarpaulin. So, even stranger than forgetting the tent is that we remembered the tarp. Tarp. to the rescue, we rigged it up using the car and some trees. We got some funny looks from other campers, but despite gentle rain for the whole night we were rather snug - we'd certainly do it again.

The next morning we got up early (easy to do when an errant cow walks past your feet at 6am) and headed up to walk the Tarn Shelf, which was pleasant despite the cloud. It made it rather spooky in fact.

After the walk we went home via a visit to the site of a rather interesting soon to be brewery. The operators of Two Metre Tall - Ashley and Jane Huntington - operate Australia's only Real Ale brewery near New Norfolk and it's a quite historic site as the country's first commercially hops were grown here. They live on the site and are using some of the old buildings to do the secondary fermentation,
store and bottle , but are planning to build a brewery on site in the coming year.

The next weekend we only managed a day-trip down to Crescent Beach at the bottom of Tasman Peninsula. It was really rather beautiful ... but we forgot the camera and although we had a borrowed Camcorder that took still shots, they were rubbish. So the only one worth showing is the blurry view through Remarkable Cave ... because it looks like an outline of Tassie. How remarkable!
